Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Image Tagging Image:TadoussacChurch.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:TadoussacChurch.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. cohesion 00:10, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Image names[edit]
שלום,
is it possible to rename these images: Image:CrazyhouseRG1.jpg, Image:CrazyhouseRG2.jpg closer to what the building is called by the architect and it is known in print, such as Spiral Apartment or בית הספירלה?
בברכה, DVD R W 01:08, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hi DVD! When I uploaded the image onto Commons I only knew the place as הבית המשוגע, or "The Crazy House", but it turned out it has a more official-sounding name, "The Spiral House". I don't know how to change the name - feel free to do it, if it's possible. Otherwise, if it needs to be re-uploaded, I can do it myself later. Aviad2001 09:10, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think the only way to change the name is to re-upload it. If you would do that it would be fantastic. Very nice pictures by the way, I want to add them to the English Wikipedia. Did you read this [1] or this [2]? They use the name you use as the title of the article, which is what the building is colloquially known as[3] but our encyclopedia articles should sound as scholarly as possible, so please use the official-sounding name. תודה רבה, DVD R W 20:31, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
traduzsion dal veneto[edit]
I hope this time it will work. It is venetian but old one, around 1700. Some words are not clear even to me Shabat Shalom Joseph
John Tell me my lord Where are you I am down in the cellar What are you doing there I am drinking (unclear) Out of my home, come up here, you beast Wait a second, I have lost the lock of the tap Stupid goofy, look it with your nose, son of an ass Be happy my lord, I found it Lock I well John My lord What is it (what I have found) is the sheet of a dog You stupid, put it in your mouth, you who do not want to work O my lord, I have found it now Then lock the tap and come upstairs Forgive me lord, I cannot come And why not, you scoundrel Why? Because I want to write a sonnet I believe you are drunk Lord, if I am (drunk) …. (not clear) Then sleep, son of a pig O lord What do you want (not clear) farewell John O my Lord Farewell farewell
This is excellent, thank you very much! Aviad2001 15:14, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi, some other little pieces of translation: after "What are you doing there / I am drinking", the lord says "O routina de casa mia" that should be "O, you ruin of my house" (routina=ruina) and after "O lord / What do you want" John says "m'arico mandomi", maybe it means "me racomando" (something like "be careful")
- OK, this is helpful. could "m'arico mandomi" mean something like "I'm falling asleep" (maybe an R missing)? And while you're here, I'll ask you one more question, about another song. Here's the full text:
Madonna io t’haggi amante et amo assai
Et mai non mi volesti consolar
Et sempre d’oggi in crai
Cra cra cra cra fa la cornachia
Et alle pene mia fine sacchia.
I'm not so sure about the last 3 lines; any ideas? Aviad2001 16:47, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks for that, and sorry for only responding now; I'm afraid I have little to contribute to that discussion, as I am no expert on the minute nuances of French FoP laws. I'll just keep my fingers crossed... Aviad2001 (talk) 19:29, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

שאלה של דניאל ונטורה[edit]
can you tell me where you take this photo
Triestesign.jpg
I shall visit there next month
- @gmail.com
Via Gioacchino Rossini

Commons abuse?[edit]
Hi, I saw your offal picture (MarketScene.jpg) featured in India's MINT newspaper (Hindustan Times group) this morning (June 11, 2011). The only credit is "Wikimedia Commons". I understand that the commons licence requests that the author be acknowledged by name. The MINT editor's email is priya@r.livemint.com. All the best Magnusmagnussen (talk) 03:08, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! Haven't logged in for a while, so I only see this now. Seems a bit too late to start pursuing it right now, but thanks for notifying! Aviad2001 (talk) 10:08, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

File tagging File:IMG-20191008-WA0001.jpg[edit]
This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:IMG-20191008-WA0001.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:IMG-20191008-WA0001.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
